Offroad training

Our first offroad driving experience was at the trial day offered by Proventure in April 2010. We were quited daunted by what other experienced drivers dared to do with their vehicles but also learned a lot about our cars abilities.

The next opportunity we had to practice was during our  summer holiday in august 2010 where we made several trips in the alps.

We travelled the famous offroad tracks in Italy that are still open for motorized vehicles; the Assietta, Varaita- Maira and Maira-Stura and some tracks in the Susa valley.

After returning from that trip we went to the 2010 meeting of Offroad trucks Austria which was held on the Erzberg. Here we could gather some more driving experience on a fascinating site, saw some exciting presentations, met a lot of  interesting world travellers and could witnes several impressive recovery operations.

Next was a driving training weekend by proventure in october. Unfortunately (or not) it was raining cats and dogs which meant that the ground was really slippery and the conditions might be comparable with the rainy season in Botswana.

In October 2010 we took part at a beginner trial in Kollnbrunn (near Vienna).  It was very interesting to learn how wide our car actually is – though we had already knocked over several posts by then. The goal of this trial is to avoid exactly that. The more you knock over or use the reverse gear the more points you get. But we went there to get to know our car a little better and it was a lot of fun.
