Equipment

During the last 8 months we have gathered quite some experience on the equipment we drag along with us. We have made some extra pages for the main items but some of the things listed below have also made our life a bit easier…

* Kindle ebooks: We both love reading and our Kindle ebooks have proven themselves to be a very good choice. The batteries last forever and the books are really comfortable in your hands and on your eyes.

* Petzl tikka 2 headtorch : The Petzl headtorches are well known for their good quality and durability. We particularly enjoy the energy saving red light option as it gives us many hours of reading pleasure on the same batteries.

* Engel fridge: There is no better fridge than an Engel. We met some other travellers who use different brands but most will change to Engel at the next opportunity. The Engel fridge can cope with hot conditions (and it sure gets hot in a black car, maximum temp seen on our inside thermometer was 56°C) and uses extremely little power.

* The Inverter: We connected a 500W power convertor underneath the driver seat and it has offered us amazing flexibility by enabling us to recharge our 220V appliances whenever we want. I actually think this should be a standard installation in any car.

* Our Mountain equipment sleeping bags: We bought two ,in our eyes, amazingly expensive down sleeping bags after an excellent consultation with the sleeping bag expert at Bannat (Berlin, Germany) He promised us that we wouldn’t regret our choice and he was absolutely right. Even after continuous use for 8 months they are still warm, fluffy and comfortable (but in definite need of good washing machine)

* the little ikea hand broom: Helps keep our humble house nice and clean. =)

* Our Italian espresso machine: Reliable delicious coffee every morning.
